How You Can Help
- Keep storm drains clear of debris.
- Don't dump anything down storm drains. These drains flow into nearby streams and estuaries, then into our rivers and the Gulf of Mexico. Anything you dump into a storm drain could eventually impact fish and wildlife in many different areas.
- Put all litter into trash cans for trash pickup.
- Recycle when possible.
- Keep your vehicles from leaking fluids. If you see a leak have it fixed.
- Have your oil changed at a shop or if you change it yourself then take the oil to a local collection center.
- When using fertilizers and pesticides, do so as per manufacturers directions. Please do not use fertilizers or pesticides if rain is forcasted in the next 24 hours. Remember that these can enter the storm drain system and if in high enough concentrations could have a negative impact on our fish and wildlife.
- Choose non-toxic products.
- Recycle when possible.
- Dispose of household hazardous wastes properly.
- Conserve water.
